Please start talking to your group and figuring out what kind of research needs to be done.
We need all information by April 22nd (which is Good Friday. We will be talking to everyone at school the day before just to make sure)

Information we need for sure:
- Teacher introduction
- Who will be teaching the course (there could be multiple teachers)
- Course curriculum/profile
- Other useful facts (for example, is there an exam for that course?)
You can, as was mentioned today, also get other students' opinions.

The design is entirely up to you. Here are the essential criteria, in order of importance:
  1. It must be useful. The intention of this assignment is not to waste your time. Instead, your work should result in something that will actually help you communicate and collaborate more effectively next year.
  2. It must be academically focused and professional in tone. (Interesting supplementals = good, silly nonsense = bad)
  3. It must include some sort of orientation (video = great, embedded Prezi = good, .ppt = boring) for Luddite teachers or outside visitors.
  4. It must be inclusive (every member of the class must contribute and every current Grade 9 gifted student should be a member by the deadline);

Tips:
  • Establish a set naming convention. 1st initial, last name works best: e.g., bforsyth
  • Take advantage of the expertise and experience you already have. Frank and Sing Yu are the logical organizers and leaders of this project. Yifan could also provide some ideas and advice based on his leadership last semester with the previous ENG1D6 wiki
  • Assign responsibilities right away and have small groups of students spend at least a couple of weeks researching (i.e., communicating with prospective subject teachers and/or department heads in order to gather content) (see sample timeline)
  • Encourage at least one member of each group the responsibility for posting content over a set time period (see sample timeline)
  • Leave enough time to standardize format, edit, and enhance the wiki before the deadline (Sample timeline)
